Our Inspiration
The EveryDay K9 was inspired by Dante, an extraordinary dog who came into my life entirely by chance in February of 2017.
Dante, a blue pitbull with a gentle demeanor and striking appearance, captured my heart during one of my volunteer visits to The Wake County Animal Center. Despite not intending to adopt another dog at that time, I felt an instant connection with Dante’s calm, confident energy and decided to bring him home, completely unaware of the profound impact he would have on my life, and so many others, over the next six years.
Dante's journey from being abandoned on a busy street to becoming my trusted, constant companion showcased his resilience and remarkable disposition. Despite his intimidating size, Dante's kind, calm, and confident attitude endeared him to everyone he met, dogs and humans alike. He accompanied me on various adventures over the years, including trips out of town, countless training sessions for clients, and outings to the lake. Forever displaying a love for water and an innate ability to bring joy to those around him.
Tragically, Dante's life was cut short at the age of six due to degenerative disc disease, leaving a void in my life and the lives of all who knew him. Despite the pain of losing Dante, I am eternally grateful for the time we shared and the enduring impact he had on my life. Dante's legacy lives on through the EveryDay K9, which aims to honor his memory by helping owners forge strong bonds with their dogs in which they can live the happiest and most active lives possible, together - The EveryDay K9 way!
Meet Your Trainer
Hi fellow dog owners, my name is Kathryn!
I am a NCSU graduate, power breed advocate, avid hiker and traveler, baker, Burn Boot Camp lover, and dog trainer serving the Raleigh, NC area.
As a kid, I always wanted to be a veterinary. But, as I progressed through my Animal Science and Zoology degrees, I realized that in order to impact dogs and their owners in the way I wanted to, dog training was the path I needed to follow!
While double majoring (and minoring) in college, working 2 part time jobs at veterinary hospitals, and volunteering at my local animal shelter, I decided, “I can cram a little more into my schedule, right? Let’s start fostering dogs!” To say I was busy, was an understatement! I had always been a “pitbull” lover, but fostering gave me a new found appreciation for these dogs (and all dogs), for their resilience, and what they are capable of. 2 years, and 24 pitbulls (pictured left) later, with 24 dogs in happy homes, I decided I was ready to move into the next chapter of my life. Dog training.
Those years of my life gave me an amazing perspective and deep understanding of how to create a lifestyle and routine that will help us reach our goals with our dogs. At my gym, it is always preached to us that reaching your goals is not about making drastic changes that you can’t maintain, but about creating a lifestyle around sustainable habits. In doing this, we can find the path to long term success with our dogs!
Are you ready to get your new, happier lifestyle with your dog started?

Balanced Training Methods
We employ a balanced approach to training, incorporating a mix of positive reinforcement techniques along with appropriate, gentle corrections and redirections when needed. Our methodology acknowledges the importance of rewarding desired behaviors while also providing clear boundaries and guidance, ensuring long term success.
Positive reinforcement focuses on rewarding good behavior, which strengthens the bond between you and your dog while encouraging desired actions. It's akin to teaching a child with praise and rewards when they do something well.
Simultaneously, using our appropriate, gentle correction methods ensure consistency and clarity in communication, helping your canine companion understand and respect boundaries. These corrections are akin to setting boundaries and guiding behavior with a child when bad behaviors arise, much like gently steering a ship back on course.
Balanced dog training techniques blend the best of both worlds: the proven effectiveness of positive reinforcement with the clarity and structure provided by correction methods. It's about clear communication and mutual understanding. One cannot be wholly successful without the other!
With our balanced approach, we empower dogs to thrive both mentally and emotionally, promoting their overall well-being and enhancing their relationship with their humans. We acknowledge that every dog is unique, and what works for one may not work for another. By incorporating various techniques, we tailor our approach to suit each dog's individual needs, ultimately leading to accomplishing your goals and having a happier, more well-adjusted dog.
Real-World Application
Our training programs are designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to continue training at home and in various real-world situations.
From basic obedience commands to advanced training exercises, we'll empower you to build a strong and lasting bond with your dog.

Additionally, we incorporate practical obedience training, teaching essential commands like sit, implied stay, and recall, which are crucial for safe and enjoyable interactions in various real-world environments.
We equip dogs and their owners with the tools they need to thrive in the real world while fostering a deeper understanding and connection between the dog and their humans.
